Rowing welcomes 11-member recruiting class for 2022

NORFOLK, Virginia. – Rowing program Old Dominion announced its 2022-23 recruiting class on Friday with 11 new faces joining the team ranging from transfers to newcomers to the “757”, from Canada and across the United States.

Why did I choose ODU?: I chose ODU because I fell in love with the campus, the people and the individuality it had to offer. I could imagine myself at my full potential here.

Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Why did I choose ODU?: I chose ODU because of the supportive energy of the team and the amazing coaches!

Gabrielle Cook
Hometown: St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada
High School/Club team: Ridley College Women’s Rowing

Why did I choose ODU?: I chose ODU for the amazing atmosphere that surrounds both the team and the academics, I can’t wait to start this journey with a wonderful group of women and so happy to say that I am now officially part of Monarch Nation!

Why did I choose ODU?: Everyone I spoke to at ODU was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The close-knit, competitive team atmosphere and unique academic opportunities really excite me. I can’t wait to row at ODU this fall!

Why did I choose ODU?: I chose ODU because the team seemed so close and it reminded me of my current team. I also like being near the water!

“Why did I choose ODU?” : I chose ODU because the school and the program suit me perfectly. From the beginning, ODU rowing has been very welcoming and joyful. As a military kid, I moved around a lot and enjoyed various environments like the ODU rowing team and school. I can’t wait for next year! Go monarchs!

Why did I choose ODU?: In addition to the BS to MD program with EVMS, a fortune cookie. It’s super cheesy, but the moment I got my offer, I opened the fortune cookie and the inside said “pleasures await you by the sea”. I took it as a sign from the universe that ODU was the right choice for me.

Why did I choose ODU?:-I chose ODU because of the beautiful campus, amazing marine biology program, and young team I can grow with.

Why did I choose ODU?: I chose ODU because of the atmosphere of the school and the team. The team is going in a good direction under the coaching staff, and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to be a part of it!
