Rockets fly off at Cub Scout event


Park Rapids Pack 58 held a rally on Tuesday to register new Cubs.

Meeting at St. Johns Lutheran Church, the children and their parents opened by reciting the pledge to the flag and the Cub Oath and Code.

As Master Cubmaster Dustin Lof discussed pack membership with parents, the kids then moved outside for an activity led by Boy Scout Leader David “Peewee” Zinniel and Boy Scouts Jacob Lof and Isaac Zinniel. .

The children made paper “stomped rockets” and launched them by stomping on plastic soda bottles connected to a device made of PVC pipes. Several of the rockets soared higher than the tops of the tall trees lining the church grounds.

Pack 58 is sponsored by Park Rapids Rotary. Committee members are John Cook, Ken Manlove, President Tom Weston and Rotary Liaison LuAnn Hurd-Lof. The den leaders are Shelley Lof, who is also the Pack Treasurer, and Alycia Mykland, who is also the Popcorn Seed.
