Rally enthusiasts traveling from Sturgis to Hill City to experience the atmosphere of a small town
RAPID CITY, SD (KOTA) – “I think what makes Hill City so unique is the people, everyone’s great, everyone’s very… big on hospitality.” said Melissa Clemetson, a staff member at European restaurant Alpine Inn.
Motorists lined Mainstreet in Hill City for a day of motorcycles, food and fun.
Some rally goers traveled from Sturgis to Hill City…just for a day of sightseeing before heading back to the main events.
Ty Dodson, traveling minister for the Wheels of Faith Motorcycle Ministry, said that unlike Sturgis, Hill City has a more family-friendly vibe.
Dodson says, “Hill City is a real laid-back city; we really like it here. More family oriented…it’s a good city. You are ten minutes from Rushmore. It doesn’t take long to get to Custer, so you’re here for everything.
A couple from out of state took a trip to Hill City and said everyone should experience the Black Hills summer at least once…especially for the bike rally.
“It has that small town feel…more pleasant. If you prefer the main roads, stay there. If you prefer the small, come here, but I would definitely do both.” Says Rici Chamberlain, a visitor from Minnesota
