Pantaloons Announces 4 Winners of Its First Season of Pearl Academy Delhi’s “Next Top Designer Contest”

New Delhi : ABFRL Pantaloons, the leading Indian fast-fashion brand of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd, has announced the winners of the first season of its “Next Top Designer” competition, launched in October on several campuses of prestigious fashion schools. The top 10 submissions were invited to ABFRL, Pantaloons Corporate Office in Mumbai for their final presentations. These top 10 shortlisted submissions had the opportunity to interact with the esteemed jury Krishna Mehta, from the Krishna Mehta label as well as Design Leads from ABFRL and Pantaloons.

Richa Gurung won 1st prize, Jasmeen Kaur and Harshika Chopra jointly won 2nd, and Nisha Gurung won 3rd prize. The winners received prizes of Rs. INR 50,000, INR 25,000 and INR 15,000 respectively. Winners will receive an internship offer from ABFRL to complete their graduation project and will receive a fantastic opportunity in the form of a pre-placement interview, to join the design team.

The prestigious “Next Top Designer Contest” aimed to highlight the best fashion design concepts and nurture talent from campuses across the country. The competition will encourage young designers to reach a large design-focused audience and gain real-world experience. The contestant also had a rare opportunity to interact with a renowned designer Nikhil Mehra from the Shantanu & Nikhil label.

The inaugural year of the competition saw 405 individual and group entrants from 13 campuses, including NIFT, Pearl & Symbiosis.

Congratulating the winners, Sangeeta Pendurkar, CEO of Pantaloons and Jaypore said“We are delighted and encouraged by the phenomenal response to the inaugural Pantaloons’ Next Top Designer competition. Postgraduate and undergraduate fashion students are very talented young men and women, who are in tune with the latest trends. In this contest, we want them to harness that knowledge and celebrate their creativity and individuality. She further added, “ABFRL plans to continue to engage with fashion school students and provide them with many opportunities to have meaningful interactions with the company.”

The judging panel included famed designer Krishna Mehta, Vandana Gupta, Design Head – Ethnic & Non-Clothing at Pantaloons; Mohita Rastogi, Design Manager – Women’s and Girls’ Western Wear for Kids at Pantaloons; and Arun Kumar KS, Design Manager – Men’s and Boys’ Kidswear at Pantaloons.
