Michael Jordan becomes the new NBA meme with reaction to Hornets nearly blowing huge lead goes viral

In Friday’s contest in Charlotte, the Lakers adapted without LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

And towards halftime, things were going the way many might have projected as the Hornets led by their biggest margin of 20 points. Instead, the hosts capitulated in record time thanks to a monster second half from Russell Westbrook.

Without LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Westbrook scored 30 of his 35 points in the second half, including a pair of clutch 3-pointers that cut the deficit to just three points with just 52.8 seconds left.

This sparked a reaction from Hornets Governor Michael Jordan, who was shocked by what appeared to be his landlord’s suite at the Spectrum Center. His reaction went viral, spawning another popular meme featuring the NBA legend.

We all know the original Michael Jordan meme from his Hall of Fame speech in 2009, the one he referenced during his speech at Kobe Bryant’s memorial service.

Back to the game. As the seconds passed, the Lakers reduced the deficit to a single point (115-114) and Jordan could no longer watch the game. His departure from the suite became just as epic as his reaction minutes earlier.

The Hornets ultimately held on to win 117-114, splitting the season series with the Lakers.

Despite the win and an epic second half for Westbrook, it was Jordan and his reaction that became the game’s biggest talking point.
