Jalen Green’s bold promise will please Houston fans

If there’s one thing the Houston Rockets can expect from Jalen Green in his second season, it’s a better version of him.

The young guard promised as much in his recent feature film for the Rockets in which he reflected on his freshman year in the NBA and what he’s learned so far. The 20-year-old has had a rather turbulent rookie year, and it’s safe to say that he failed to achieve the goals he set for himself.

With a year of professional experience under his belt, Green is ready to take the plunge.

“I will always walk on the ground with a chip on my shoulder. Just stay in the gym, get stronger and healthier. Try to take my game to another level,” Green shared, per Alykhan Bijani of The Athletic.

Jalen Green averaged 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 2021-22. However, it took him a while to become familiar with NBA action and with the Rockets’ schemes.

After adapting to NBA speed and physics, this NBA-ready game was on full display. Now the Rockets are hoping he can build on that as he establishes himself as the face of the franchise.

Green also vowed to be a Rockets player for life after the overwhelming amount of love and support he received from the city in his freshman year. Although it’s still too early to talk about his future, the youngster has made it clear that he has no intention of going anywhere.

“H-Town has really supported me. They supported me… I play here. I plan to be here. Just connecting with my people in H-Town, providing, helping the city in any way I can is important to me,” Green added.

The future certainly looks bright for Green, and if he can maintain that motivation, the Rockets will be in good hands.
