Deprive them of all services, says BJP MP leader on residents putting up Congress flags on houses

Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): A BJP mayoral candidate in the state during the election campaign was seen threatening residents of one locality to close all government facilities to them. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

In the video, Prahlad Patel, the BJP mayoral candidate for the Ratlam municipal elections, was campaigning in a locality in the district on Sunday. He was addressing the gathering of party workers and residents, meanwhile he noticed that Congress flags were erected in some houses.

Seeing the Congress flags in some houses, Patel angrily demanded a (BJP) ward councilor to click on the photos of the houses where the Congress flags are displayed and deprive them of all (government) services. “It doesn’t matter if 5-10 people don’t vote for us. Click on the photos and deprive them of all services,” Patel said in a video posted on social media.

Sources have told IANS that Patel was upset after seeing Congressional flags erected in a locality where he was campaigning, after which he made an open threat.

Nonetheless, after the video surfaced on social media platforms, Patel claimed the video was doctored to defame him. “I have asked the district police to investigate the matter and whoever is behind this should be punished,” Patel said.

Notably, Patel faces a close fight against Mayank Jat of Congress in the Ratlam mayoral election. Vote for the last phase of municipal elections to be held on July 13.
