Costume, BBC Studios Ink Pact for Bluey Costumes and Props • The Toy Book
This fall, a famous Blue Heeler is heading to the costume aisles at Walmart.
Disguise Inc. – the Halloween costume division of Jakks Pacific – has signed a license agreement to produce a full line of costumes and accessories based on Blue, the successful animated series produced by Ludo Studio for BBC Studios. Since its debut in the United States in 2019, Blue – the story of a 6-year-old Australian Blue Heeler dog – was a hit with preschoolers thanks to daily broadcasts on Disney Channel and Disney Junior.
“Blue explores the important themes of family life, parenting and imaginative play, âsays Tara Hefter, executive vice president and general manager of Disguise. âHe has a huge fan base of preschoolers and parents alike who will be excited about our new line of Bluey costumes. Our new partnership with BBC Studios has created some exciting new additions to our 2021 lineup. We expect to see a positive response from fans and retailers this fall. “
The deal for Bluey’s US rights in the costume category is just the latest in a recent spate of new offers for Disguise. Other recent signings include the Universal Brand Development portfolio, Sonic the hedgehog 2, and PAW Patrol: The Movie, Sony’s Ghostbusters, Nintendo’s Kirby, and Moonbug’s Blippi, among others.
“Blue is our fastest growing show in the United States and we look forward to this meaningful partnership with Disguise that will bring Bluey’s characters to life with their high quality costumes and props, âsaid Suzy Raia, VP of Product consumer and business development, BBC Studios. “Blue fans will now have the chance to dress up for Halloween and be part of this sweet Blue Heeler family. “
Disguise’s line of Bluey suits will hit the market for the first time, exclusively at Walmart this fall.
