A heat wave the size of 10 Earths has been discovered in Jupiter’s atmosphere.

It was 130,000 kilometers (about 81,000 miles) in diameter and a scorching 700 degrees Celsius (1,292 degrees Fahrenheit), moving at speeds of up to 2,400 meters per second from the Jovian north pole.

And that, scientists say, could solve one of the most puzzling mysteries about the largest planet in our solar system – why it’s so much hotter than models predict.

It’s the permanent auroras twinkling at Jupiter’s poles that could provide the extra energy to heat the gas giant to temperatures far beyond what we expect – and likely, with a dense solar wind, responsible for the heat wave.

“Last year we produced… the first maps of Jupiter’s upper atmosphere capable of identifying the dominant heat sources,” says astronomer James O’Donoghue of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in Japan.

“Through these maps, we demonstrated that Jupiter’s auroras were a possible mechanism that could explain these temperatures.”

The first idea that something weird was going on in Jupiter’s atmosphere came in the 1970s, about 50 years ago.

Jupiter is much farther from the Sun than Earth; about five times the distance, in fact. At this distance, it receives only 4% of the solar radiation that reaches the Earth.

Its upper atmosphere is expected to have an average temperature of around -73 degrees Celsius (-99 degrees Fahrenheit). Instead, it sits at around 420 degrees Celsius – comparable to Earth’s upper atmosphere, and much higher than solar heating alone can explain.

This means that there must be something else going on at Jupiter, and the first heatmaps, obtained by O’Donoghue and his colleagues and published last yearindicated a solution.

Jupiter is crowned by the most powerful auroras in the solar system, bursting into wavelengths invisible to the human eye. We also know that auroras here on Earth cause non-negligible heating of our own atmosphere.

Jupiter’s auroras are very similar to those on Earth: an interaction between charged particles, magnetic fields and molecules in the planet’s atmosphere. And they are also very alien. Earth’s auroras are born from bursts of particles blown by powerful solar winds. They are sporadic, dependent on this irregular supply.

Jupiter’s auroras are permanent, generated by particles from its moon Io, the most volcanic object in the solar system, which constantly spews sulfur dioxide. This forms a torus of plasma around Jupiter, which is routed to its poles via magnetic field lines, where it rains down into the atmosphere.

And There you go – dawn. Past heat maps of Jupiter have revealed hotspots directly beneath the auroral oval, suggesting a connection between the two.

But then it got more interesting. The contribution from Io does not mean that there is no auroral contribution from the Sun, and this is what O’Donoghue and his colleagues observed.

As they collected observations of Jupiter and its bizarre temperatures, a dense solar wind slammed into the gas giant. As a result, the team observed an improvement in auroral heating.

frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; automatic reading; clipboard-write; encrypted media; gyroscope; picture in picture” allow full screen >

Because the hot gas is expanding, that’s likely what sent the heat wave spilling out of the auroral oval and rolling toward the equator at speeds of up to thousands of miles per hour.

So as it spread, it would have provided a significant amount of additional heat to the Jovian atmosphere.

“While the aurora continuously provides heat to the rest of the planet, these heat wave ‘events’ represent an additional and significant source of energy,” O’Donoghue explains.

“These findings add to our knowledge of the weather and climate of Jupiter’s upper atmosphere, and are of great help in trying to solve the problem of the ‘energy crisis’ plaguing giant planet research.”

Jupiter is not the only planet in the solar system to be hotter than it should be. Saturn, Neptune and Uranus are all hundreds of degrees hotter than solar heating can account for.

While none of the others have Jupiter-scale auroras, this discovery represents a avenue of exploration that could help solve the puzzle.

The team presented its findings to the Europlanet Science Congress 2022.

Since Vladimir Putin’s surprise statement on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, relations between Westerners and Russia have been deteriorating hour by hour. As always when the news requires it, the editorial staff of the Lesfrancais.press site interviewed Franck Ferrari, the elected representative of the French in Russia, on Stereochic, the radio station for expatriates around the world.

Mass departures from Moscow

Franck Ferrari does not hide a deterioration in the state of mind of the Russian population. Vladimir Putin’s announcement triggered a series of emotional reactions, unusual among Muscovites.

If the streets remain calm, the accesses to the exits of the city are now permanently saturated. Sign of massive departure, the potentially mobilized Russians seek to leave the territory. And this while this Sunday, September 25, the Russian State promulgated a law condemning all those who seek to flee their military obligations to ten years in prison.

Dual nationals can be mobilized

On the side of the French authorities, the ambassador wrote to French people residing in Russia to remind them of the instructions for caution. The security of our compatriots is not yet threatened.

As Franck Ferrari indicates at the microphone of Stereochic, we are “always in the spotlight”, and there are no plans to proceed with evacuations. However, the mobilization decree caused a stir in the French community in Russia.

If expatriates are not affected by this ordinance, except through their Russian entourage who could be mobilized, the administrative situation of dual nationals is much more worrying, like that of the Russian husbands of French women. Indeed, the latter, Russian citizens, are obviously also concerned by the categories classifying men between those who must or can or cannot join the front.

“Without panicking on board, there are decisions to be made”

Franck Ferrari, Advisor to the French in Russia

Logically, the families concerned wonder about a possible engagement with Russia while France would be in an opposing camp, or quite simply do not feel concerned by this conflict. Thus, since last Wednesday, the consulates as the French elected officials of the country are questioned on the modalities of departure to France.

» From now on, he touches reality like Franco-Russian children who have just had their majoritys”

Franck Ferrari, Advisor to the French in Russia

Franck Ferrari is also a teacher at the French school in Moscow and does not hide the fact that parents, ready to leave, are multiplying.

How to leave Russia?

But if we want to leave Russia, we need power. With Western sanctions, Moscow, like other cities, is cut off from much of the world. However, the French (and not the dual nationals who can be mobilized, we will come back to this later) can use the “normal sector” as Franck Ferrari designates it, not without irony, that is to say a trip to France via Turkey or Serbia or Finland.

French students leaving for Moscow (AFP -2022)

On the other hand, while prices were already high, due to the complexity of travel, inflation, which also affects Russia, with the explosion in demand for flights from Russia to international destinations, air ticket prices have followed an exponential curve with a Moscow-Ankara fare of around 2,500 euros one way. However, there are tips, combining train, taxi and plane, to leave Russian territory at reasonable costs, Franck Ferrari shares some of them with us in the podcast.

Tricks that are not only about ways to leave Russian territory, such as expats in China, our compatriots in Russia have become addicted to VPNs and have developed networks to receive products from the West.

An evolving situation

With Franck Ferrari, we therefore take stock of a situation which has evolved, is deteriorating, but which for the moment does not call into question the presence of the French in Russia. If the case of potentially combatant dual nationals remains thorny and could lead to diplomatic tensions with the Russian services, the embassy, the consular services and the elected officials do not want to panic.

According to Iftikhar Ahmed Javed, chairman of the UP Board of Madrasa Education, speculative reports calling madrasas “legal” or “illegal” have stained the atmosphere and harmed the education of children from disadvantaged backgrounds enrolled in seminaries .

Javed, who is also the national secretary of the minority BJP front, has sought to dispel unconfirmed reports that 2,500 UP madrasas have been removed from government records. “The investigative work will continue until October 5 and the report will be submitted to the government by October 25. So far, no information has been given to either the government or the board. However , rumors and labeling of seminars stained the atmosphere,” he said. . The list of 2,500 madrasas that were not on the portal were recognized madrasas. When the education portal was created in 2018, they could not be added for technical reasons. The survey, on the other hand, was to find the number of unrecognized madrasas.

Currently, there are 16,513 recognized madarsas, of which 560 are subsidized by the government. There is no data on the number of unrecognized seminaries that are being investigated.

“I urge intellectuals, social workers and educators to refrain from discussions that could hinder the conclusion of a simple investigation. Investigations of schools and colleges are common, even if it is the first time that madrasahs are investigated. Use of adjectives like “legal-illegal”, “authentic-fake” have stained the atmosphere. It is well known that people enrolled in madrasas come from poor backgrounds and are not admitted elsewhere. Such rumors will negatively affect their education,” he said.

Javed had said last Sunday that the UP government had not granted recognition to any madrasa or improved the recognition of any institute in the past 7 years. With the increase in population and the establishment of more madrasas, it was only natural that their number should be high.

EAGAN, Minn. – Jordan Hicks teamed with Mychal Kendricks in Philadelphia from 2015 to 2017.

Now he returns to the “City of Brotherly Love” as a first-time opponent. At least he’ll have Kendricks’ younger brother, Eric, as a winger.

from minnesota Monday night football will mark Hicks’ first return to “The Linc” since his final season with the Eagles in 2018. He played one game against Philadelphia during his time with the Cardinals (2019-2021), but that was in Arizona.

Hicks, who was drafted 84th overall by Philadelphia in 2015, spoke to members of the Twin Cities media on Thursday about his comeback – and being the recipient of a raucous fan base that makes things difficult for opponents.

“I have a lot of great memories there, a lot of good people that I still know on that team, and I’m really excited,” Hicks said. “Every time you play against an old team or play in your hometown, it means a little bit more.

“I imagine it’s going to be pretty hostile, which is exciting because every time that juice is there, it just amplifies you,” he added. “It will be the first time I come back to this side.”

In four seasons with the Eagles, Hicks appeared in 43 games (40 starts) and totaled 254 tackles, 11.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries and seven interceptions.

Watergen is a pioneering Israeli company that has become the world market leader in atmospheric drinking water devices (AWG), machines that create drinking water from air. As we read about the water crisis daily, Watergen stands as a savior as it successfully produces pure and fresh drinking water from the air using its advanced technology.

As a solution, scientific water management is increasingly recognized as vital to India’s growth and ecosystem sustainability. This opens the way to increase in demand for atmospheric water generators (AWG) – which are devices that extract water from humid ambient air, producing pure, potable water. Mr. Chaitanya Jaipuria, Director – Watergen India share more information about the same.

  • What are Atmospheric Water Generators (AWG)?

Atmospheric Water Generators (AWG) are an innovative new technology to help secure our future. These machines create fresh, clean and safe drinking water from the air. AWG creates a new, untapped source of unlimited water, which is the air around us. The machines are designed to generate drinking water anywhere and anytime with humidity levels as low as 20%.

  • What is the role of AWGs in tackling the water crisis and how advanced technology can help solve India’s water scarcity problem?

About 600 million Indians suffer from a shortage of drinking water, according to a report by NITI Aayog. With the drying up of rivers and the depletion of groundwater, the problem is getting worse day by day. But if you look at it another way, there is water available in abundance but only in a hitherto untapped source.

The only solution left to deal with the crisis is innovative technology to create new freely available resources such as air to produce water, and that is exactly what AWGs are capable of doing.

AWGs operate efficiently even when humidity is as low as 20% Efficiency is the need of the hour, and innovations such as Watergen’s GENius technologies can go a long way in solving India’s current water crisis .

  • What is the future of water from air technology products in India

Since India is already grappling with an acute problem of potable water scarcity, air-sourced water technology products are sure to gain popularity in the near future. AWG technologies are not only durable, but also cost effective. If you take Watergen as an example, a single liter of water they produce costs 7 to 15 cents, depending on local electricity costs, which is much less than packaged drinking water bottles. A one time investment of INR 2.5 lakhs in these products will bring long term benefits and hence is a promising avenue for the water generator industry in India.

  • Describe Watergen product features – their USPs and product benefits

Watergen’s patented global technology was introduced to India through a strategic joint venture with SMV Jaipuria Group, a multifaceted business conglomerate. At the heart of Watergen’s AWG product line is the unique, patented GENius heat exchange technology. It utilizes the moisture in the air by first purifying the air, which then passes through the patented heat exchanger made from food grade polymer. The water thus created goes through 5 stages of purification and mineralization. The technology filters the air taken from the atmosphere and filters it, removing dust, dirt and pollutants down to PM2.5, providing another air purification benefit. Then its GENius heat exchanger and cooling process condenses clean air into water. Watergen purifies water and processes it through mineralization filters to improve water quality. It then undergoes UV treatment, which destroys microorganisms and breaks down harmful chemicals. The result is absolutely fresh, clean, safe and mineralized water with a pH between 6.5 and 7.5.

That’s not all. The purified water stored in the tank passes through the filters again every 4 hours so that you drink absolutely fresh, clean and safe water.

Some of its main USPs and benefits are:

  • Unique and Innovative: Creates water from moisture in the air, an unlimited and completely free source of water
  • Superior quality of mineralized drinking water: Meets all food grade standards and provides added minerals
  • New water source: Creates a whole new source of clean water from the air around us – preserving natural water sources, adding water to the world
  • Evolutionary structure: Patented GENius heat exchanger, can be configured to any size and supports a wide range of water production needs
  • Energy efficient and cost effective: Watergen’s GENius technology makes it possible to produce 5 liters of mineralized drinking water with 1 KWH in a wide range of climatic conditions from 20% humidity
  • Ecological/Sustainable: The products are environmentally friendly, reduce reliance on plastic water bottles, 5 gallon solution and eliminate the need for infrastructure, water transport, travel traffic, thus saving on cost logistics and storage.
  • Global industry recognition and certification: Watergen is the first AWG manufacturer to comply with US ASSE LEC 2004 standards. All products comply with EPA, NSF and Federal Drinking Water Standards
  • Compliance with United Nations Sustainable Development (SD) Goals: Watergen has a very high level of compliance with 14 of the 17 UNSD objectives
  • Watergen’s technology works well all over the world, what is its reach in India? Commentary on the Future of AWGs in India.

With devices deployed in more than 90 countries around the world, Watergen has played a vital role in meeting the water needs in these countries. In India too, the water crisis is a persistent problem affecting a large part of the country’s population. Most Indians still suffer from access to a reliable and constant supply of clean, fresh water for their daily needs. A recent study by Science.org found that large swathes of northwestern and southern India will have “extremely low groundwater availability” by 2025. Additionally, the country is further expected to face severe water stress by 2050. Watergen products are designed according to need. of the Indian market, as India plays an important role in Watergen’s growth journey. We are confident that this will play an important role in India’s sustainable development journey and help the country take a step forward towards empowering the people of India by giving them access to the most basic necessities for their survival, namely water.

Gray skies and the threat of rain failed to dampen the festive atmosphere at Croke Park as Garth Brooks loyalists poured onto the pitch for the final night of the singer’s first race this week.

he night is the third night the country superstar has taken the stage in Dublin but, after five days off, the Oklahoma singer will return to the stadium next Friday.

And some fans, dressed in the singer’s signature stetson, were already preparing to return to see him again.

Superfan Maireaid Fordyce not only turned her husband Matthew into a fan, but in addition to asking him to accompany her tonight and last night, she also asked if he would be back with her next week.

“We were here last night and it was amazing,” Maireaid told Independent.ie. “We are here again tonight and expect it to be just as amazing.

“I love Garth Brooks. He’s been a constant in my life since I was a kid. His music was always around the house and when I was about four or five I wrote him a letter and he told me returned a signed letter and photo.

The couple are teachers and have just moved to Newry, County Down, Essex, where they also taught.

“I’m a music teacher, so I love all types of music,” Matthew said. “But I never liked Garth Brooks until Maireaid introduced him to me.

“I love his music now and we’re playing it at home. It’s great to be here again, but when Mairead asked me if I was coming back next week I had to laugh and say ‘Of course , if it’s a free ticket this time’.”

However, it seems that Mairead is convinced that she will entice her husband to join her again.

“We have to come back because I don’t know when I’ll have the chance to see him again,” she said.

“He’s 60 now and yes he’s in great shape but I don’t know if he’ll be back so I have to see him while I can.”

Elaine Larkin (40) from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, was present with her friends and said being five months pregnant ‘would never stop her seeing Garth’.

“It’s a story I can tell my little girl when she grows up,” Elaine said. “I went to Westlife when I was pregnant with twins 10 years ago.

“It’s tiring, but there was no way I’d miss anything. I love his music, it’s so relatable.

Friends Laura Noone and Lisa Fitzgerald were thrilled to be in Croke Park. Laura said she had tickets in 2014, the year the controversy erupted and Brooks’ concerts at Croke Park were cancelled.

“We’re so excited, we can’t wait to walk through those doors,” Laura said. “We have waited for this for so long. I love Garth Brooks because he loves Ireland and there’s so much in his music that I find relevant.

“I love the vibe, which is why we came early to soak it all up.”

The friends, like many in the crowd, wore stetsons to watch the highly anticipated show. “All in all, they were £30 for the hats and scarves tied around them,” Laura said. “It’s all part of the fun.”

Friends Caroline Owens (34), from Middleton, Co Cork, and Emma Sheehan (29), from Blarney, were also delighted to finally be at a Brooks concert. Even the thought of a long car ride and potential rain didn’t dampen their spirits.

“I love nostalgia,” Caroline said. “His song Dance reminds me of my grandmother, Liza, who unfortunately is no longer with us.

“I had tickets in 2014 and was devastated when I couldn’t go. My friend waited in line all night to get them, so that was really really disappointing.

“But I’m here now and I’m very excited. If it’s raining, that’s okay – we’re still going to have a great time. We have hats and ponchos.

“Garth Brooks’ music appeals so much to Irish audiences because so many people in Ireland love country music.

“I grew up with the music of Garth Brooks and with Christy Moore. It’s going to be a great evening.

The man they had all been waiting to see arrived on stage at 8 p.m., at which time the rain clouds seemed to evaporate.

The show is being recorded and will likely be used as footage for a documentary Brooks is making in Ireland.

He opened the proceedings with his 2018 song All dayarriving on stage on an elevator under the stage as a giant screen displayed the Habs.

Dressed in a black stetson and a black shirt and blue jeans, the singer jumped off a step and looked very fit for his 60th birthday.

Brooks said to the crowd, “How is everyone? Thank you for allowing us to return to the best place to play music on the planet.

“I know what you heard. This is the only Sunday show we will do in this country.

“It’s going to be a fun night. You don’t do this unless you’re someone who goes to concerts. We went to see Ed Sheeran this year. We went to see Beyoncé, she was pretty cool.

The crowd sang with the 1995s Cheyanne Beaches and friends and families danced together as Croke Park shone under the red lights.

For a few hours it didn’t feel like Dublin. It was very much like being held in Brooks’ homeland and it was a country tinged with green, white and gold.

It was clear that the music holds evocative memories for many in the crowd, including teenagers to retirees.

Brooks stepped out onto a lying platform straight into that adoring crowd and looked pumped with adrenaline as the crowd sang “Olé Olé Olé.”

“The songs are supposed to be at the end of the show,” he told the crowd.

The singer stopped to speak to a woman in the crowd, a ‘Mrs Sharon’, who asked him to play Much too young (to feel so old). Brooks replied that it was not on her set list and anyway she was too young to know.

However, he told the woman that he would try to play the piece before launching into the song with a violinist.

The singer laughed and said, “Are you kidding me,” when he realized the crowd knew all the words to the 1989 ballad.

As the night sky enveloped the stadium, thousands of people cheered and danced.

“I never imagined that you would all know much too young… I love you Sharon,” he said.

It was clear that Brooks considers Ireland a second home.

“Ireland is the best place on the planet,” he said. “I don’t have to sing, you sing to me. You have no idea how many miles I traveled just to hear you sing.

Meanwhile, a ring of steel surrounds the residential streets outside Croke Park. People can only access the area if they have tickets to the show or are residents.

One resident told Independent.ie: ‘It causes a real inconvenience, going in and out of the area.

She added: “I got home yesterday and it was a nightmare getting in with the car, but it’s not something that happens often and it will help the local economy so it’s a good thing.”

SPOKANE, Wash. – Smoke from wildfires in the area is currently affecting air quality and conditions could potentially worsen by Sunday afternoon, according to the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency. (Spokane Clean Air).

At noon today, the Air Quality Index (AQI) is in the unhealthy range for sensitive/orange bands and is expected to remain in that range for most of the day and into tomorrow, before the conditions do not deteriorate further.

“On Saturday, high air pressure is expected to begin to build in the region, paving the way for more smoke to build up. We are closely monitoring the situation and will update the air quality forecast as needed. over the weekend,” according to Mark Rowe, Air Quality Monitoring Manager for Spokane Clean Air.

“Given our proximity to some of the fires, any changes in wind direction and/or fire activity could have significant impacts on air quality. It is therefore important that individuals monitor the AQI and take the necessary steps to protect their health,” said Scott Windsor, executive director of Spokane Clean Air.

Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) Health Officer Dr. Francisco Velázquez added, “Smoke can affect anyone. It is important for all of us to be prepared in order to reduce exposure. If you have outdoor events and activities planned for this weekend, please monitor air quality levels and make the health of attendees and staff a top priority when making decisions.”

SRHD provides a guide for school activities and outdoor sporting events to help make decisions based on air quality. The same guide could be used by businesses or for private gatherings. It can be found at srhd.org/air-quality-wildfire-faq, under Resources.

Bad for Sensitive Groups/Orange: Sensitive groups, defined below, should take steps to reduce their exposure: limit time spent outdoors, avoid strenuous outdoor activities, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air (provided below). Everyone should watch for symptoms as a sign to reduce exposure.

Sensitive groups include those most likely to experience health problems from breathing smoke, including:

  • People with or recovering from COVID-19
  • People with lung diseases (asthma, COPD, bronchitis, emphysema)
  • People with respiratory infections
  • People with existing heart or circulatory problems
  • People with a history of heart attack or stroke
  • Infants and children under 18 years old.
  • Seniors (over 65)
  • Pregnant women
  • people who smoke
  • People with diabetes

Symptoms of smoke exposure can range from mild to severe, including coughing, scratchy throat, irritated sinuses, itchy eyes and runny nose, shortness of breath, chest pain, and headache. If you have heart or lung disease, smoking can make your symptoms worse. People with heart disease may experience chest pain, rapid or irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, and fatigue.

If you have a pre-existing respiratory condition such as asthma, COPD (including chronic bronchitis and emphysema) or allergies, smoking may make symptoms worse (inability to breathe normally, cough with or without mucus, chest discomfort, wheezing and shortness of breath). Consult a doctor in case of severe symptoms, such as chest pain or difficulty breathing. Dial 911 for emergency assistance if symptoms are severe.

Symptoms of Smoke and COVID: Some respiratory symptoms, including cough, sore throat, and difficulty breathing, are common to both wildfire smoke and the COVID-19 virus.

Symptoms unique to COVID-19 include increased severity of cough, new loss of taste or smell, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fever. If you have any of these symptoms, even seemingly minor ones, you should be tested for COVID-19. Free home tests can be ordered by visiting the testing section at covid.srhd.org.

Steps to reduce exposure to smoke:

  • Limit the duration and intensity of outdoor physical activity.
  • Stay indoors with cleaner indoor air
  • Close windows and doors unless it is too hot to maintain safe temperatures.
  • Don’t add to indoor air pollution, such as smoking or burning candles.
  • Filter indoor air through an HVAC system, portable HEPA air purifier, or DIY box fan filter.
  • Set the air conditioning to recirculation.
  • If you are unable to maintain clean, fresh air at home, seek shelter elsewhere.
  • If you must be outdoors, wear a properly fitted, NIOSH-approved particulate respirator, such as an N95 mask.
