Brix is Kearney’s newest bar and opened in the spring of 2021. The bar has quickly become a UNK nightlife favorite.

“I always love going to Brix because you’ll always meet someone you know,” said UNK senior Steven Boldt.

Brix may seem like a modest bar nestled between a café and a brasserie, but since opening it has quickly risen to the forefront of other established UNK bars.

Multiple factors have contributed to making Brix one of the best college bars in less than a year. Brix is opposite Copperfields Bar and within walking distance of Paddy O’Mally’s Irish Pub – both historically popular bars for UNK students. The bars take advantage of each other as well as patrons offering students the opportunity to bar-hop without driving.

Brix excels in one particular aspect: an economical variety of drink specials and events throughout the week to engage students. From dollar shots to holiday-themed specials, Brix offers something for every student.

“There’s an upbeat atmosphere that really resonates with fellow students and young adults, especially with the music and hilarity that can ensue at karaoke nights from people just indulging in laughter and having a good time. good time,” Boldt said.

As a result, Brix is an immensely popular destination for students to meet and have a drink. As a hotspot, Brix often has a full house, making it one of Kearney’s most social bars.

UNK junior Carissa Jensen recently turned 21 and found Brix to be her favorite college bar.

“I come here for the friends and the vibe and they host student events,” Jensen said.

Bartender and UNK student Alexa Daubert appreciates what Brix offers as both a student and a worker.

“We just have a very friendly atmosphere here,” Daubert said. “We are all middle schoolers who work here, so we get along. It’s like my second family; we enjoy working with each other.
